Here at Sarubin Family Dental we’re always keeping an eye on our community and the advances and opportunities in learning related to dental care, finding ways we can assist the people in our area. That’s why we were pleased to work with Harford Community College during their 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing Workshop.
The workshop, funded by a grant for Advanced Technological Education through the National Science Foundation, offered high school juniors and seniors the opportunity of engaging in a full day of exploring additive manufacturing careers and 3D printing applications.
During the workshop, students printed their own Invisalign®-type of structure for their teeth. David Antol, Coordinator for Engineering Technology Programs at HCC, conducted the workshop. Dr. Danny Sarubin, Dawn Wyatt, and Carren Choate of Sarubin Family Dental performed the dental scanning.
We were happy to note that, in addition to the workshop, Harford Community College is also adding two additive technology courses to their curriculum.
As a practice that enjoys reaching out into the local area to support and educate members of our community, it’s great to see the opportunities like this come to young adults. The world is filled with exciting uses for 3D technology including many in the dental field. In fact, as a technologically advanced practice, we use 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing capabilities here in the office.
